Consumer alert on the undeclared presence of gluten in oat drinks

The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (Aesan), attached to the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and the 2030 Agenda, warned this Friday against the presence of gluten in the 0% Sugar Oat Drink product from the YOSOY brandwhose secondary labeling on the six-unit package erroneously indicates “gluten-free”, even though the containers sold individually are correctly labeled.

“The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition has taken note, through the Coordinated System for Rapid Exchange of Information (SCIRI), of an alert notification sent by the health authorities of Catalonia, regarding the presence of gluten in the YOSOY brand oat drink, which incorrectly includes the gluten-free brand on its secondary labeling (Pack of 6 units)“, they communicated.

The information included in the alert is the result of the self-control of the company itself, which reported the incident to the competent authorities, in accordance with the legislation and “in order not to make available to the population any dangerous foods”, according to Consumption.

Based on the information available, distribution was carried out throughout the national territory and the office of Pablo Bustinduy emphasized that this information was transmitted through Sciri, in order to verify the withdrawal of the products concerned from the marketing circuits.

As a precautionary measure, it recommended that people with problems related to gluten ingestion and who may have the product at home should “refrain from consuming it”although he indicated that its ingestion does not pose any risk to the rest of the population.
