The director general of the World Health Organization (WHO) condemned on Thursday a new Israeli attack on the Kamal-Adwan hospital in the northern Gaza Strip, which left people injured and damaged equipment essential for the survival of patients.

On October 25, the Ministry of Health of the Gaza Strip, administered by Hamas, had already accused Israeli forces of having stormed the hospital located in the Jabaliya camp, where they launched a major operation at the beginning of the month. Dozens of staff were arrested, including Dr. Mohammed Obeid, an orthopedic surgeon working for Doctors Without Borders (MSF).

The NGO, which had not heard from him, announced on Thursday “He was arrested by Israeli forces along with several members of the Kamal-Adwan Hospital.”, on October 26. “We are extremely concerned about the arrest of our colleague”underlines.

“We have officially requested information from the Israeli authorities regarding the detention status of Dr.r Obeid, his current location and his physical and mental health. We ask for the protection of our colleague, as well as all medical staff in Gaza who work in impossible conditions and face horrific violence while attempting to provide care. »
