The COP16 on Biodiversity ended on Saturday, November 2 in Cali after failing to reach an agreement on the financing of the roadmap that humanity has drawn up to stop the destruction of nature by 2030.
The negotiations were suspended on Saturday morning by the Colombian president of the United Nations biodiversity summit, Susana Muhamad, upon confirming, after an additional night of discussions, the loss of the quorum of participants.
This suspension interrupted debates between Brazil, which supported the Colombian proposal to create a new natural fund, and the European Union, Japan and Canada, which are strongly opposed.
