UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO) organized a joint event called “The health case for action against climate change” within the framework of the COP29 conference.

The President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, also participated in the debate.
At the event, a report titled “A threat to progress: combating the impact of climate change on children’s health and well-being” was presented. The report emphasizes the importance of taking urgent measures.
UNICEF Deputy Executive Director Kitty van der Heyden highlighted the special vulnerability of children to the climate crisis and called for urgent action.
