COP29 volunteers started working on the Baku metro

“COP29 volunteers have started working on the Baku metro.”

Oku.Az reports that this was stated by Hidayat Mammadov, Vice President of JSC “Baku Metropolitan”, at the briefing held today.

He highlighted that during the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), volunteers began working in the Baku metropolitan region.

“In this sense, 100 volunteers selected based on the COP29 Operating Company project provide service in 10 metro stations.

In this sense, all organizational issues have been addressed, including the training and mentoring process for volunteers. The main objective of this project is to guarantee passenger satisfaction, as well as the comfortable and safe use of metropolitan transport for COP29 participants.

Volunteers will work in shifts at 10 metro stations until November 22. In addition to “Koroglu”, they are “Icherisheher”, “Sahil”, “May 28”, “Youth”, “Narimanov” of the “Red Line”, “Nizami” of the “Green Line”, “Academy of Sciences” , “Builders” and will work at the “January 20” stations.

Volunteers will provide foreign and underserved travelers with directions to COP29 venues and other useful and necessary information. Its main activity includes providing the necessary information on the use of the subway, including the duties, rights and prohibitions of passengers, obtaining and paying fares, as well as other rules.

In addition, applicants must visit the rich cultural heritage of the capital, especially the historical-cultural, social-public places, leisure centers, etc., which are located near the stations. Orientation tools are part of the volunteer program.

To ensure more efficient volunteer activity, as well as so that passengers entering the stations can identify them more easily, information kiosks have been placed at the aforementioned stations.

“During the entire period, the volunteers will work as a single team with the metro staff and will gain rich experience, they will also be able to get to know the metro more closely and use this information in their future career advancement,” said the vice president.
