This weekend, Cordoba will become a meeting place for twenty brotherhoods of the Risen One from all over Spain, with the confirmed presence of brotherhoods from the provinces of Granada, Málaga, Zaragoza, Huesca, Albacete, Cuenca and Córdoba.
The objective is to highlight the moment of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, to assimilate it to that of the Passion and Death, more commonly treated, and to underline the meaning of this crucial moment through the presentations teachers and researchers.
It will be during the first National Congress of the Brotherhoods of the Resurrection “Resurrexit” in Spain, organized by the Brotherhood of the Risen One of Cordoba between November 8 and 10 to address the celebration of Easter with its brotherhoods, its iconography and its rites, with a hundred participants.
The scenarios the chosen choices are the Visitor Reception Center and the Royal Stables (for the first Friday events), the Merced Palace (for the Saturday academic sessions) and the parish of Santa Marina.
THE inaugural presentation It will be delivered by the Bishop of Córdoba, Demetrio Fernández, who will speak about “The resurrection of Jesus Christ, center and foundation of our faith”. Finally, the Episcopal Palace will not host the first day because it is under construction.

Among the interventions, that of Juan Aranda Doncel on “the brotherhood of the Risen Lord and Holy Week in Cordoba from the 16th to the 21st century”.

The academic sessions will cover topics as diverse as popular Easter celebrations and the Representation of the Resurrected Lord.

Sunday November 10. Parish of Santa Marina. 12:00 p.m., closing mass of the congress. 1:30 p.m. Easter march concert, by the musical group Cristo de Gracia, which will premiere the march ‘Lux Resurrectionis’, composed expressly for the occasion by Manuel Roldán.
The academic director of the event is the historian and writer Juan Aranda Doncel, and the communication program has eleven speakers, all university professors, academics and researchers of the national panorama, who will address aspects such as iconography, devotion and dedication of the Risen Ones in Granada, Seville, Castile-La Mancha and the Philippines, among others.
From the Levante region, the participants who were finally going to attend will not be there after the serious flooding suffered, according to Manuel Murillo, coordinator of the congress.
Musical premiere
On Sunday, November 10, noon mass will be celebrated in the parish of Santa Marina, and at 1:30 p.m. there will be a concert of the musical group Cristo de Gracia in the temple.
It is precisely this formation that will offer a first commemorative march of the congress, entitled “Lux Resurrectionis”, a work by Manuel Roldán.
Also on this last day, the candle delivery “Tears of life”, which will be performed by the Rocío brotherhood of Málaga. With this gesture, we encourage the donation of organs and tissues to give a second chance to transplanted people, true “resurrected”, as the brotherhood emphasizes.

These three days will serve to promote communication between these brotherhoods of the Resurrection so that common projects can be born between them. As usual in this type of congress, cultural and tourist visits will also be offered to participants.
