“A strong and destructive earthquake is not expected in the republic in the near future.”
These words were spoken by Gurban Yetirmishli, Director of the Republican Center for Seismological Services of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS), a corresponding member of ANAS.
He said that an earthquake of magnitude 7 or higher is not expected in any region, which could cause major consequences and loss of life.
It should be noted that on September 8, a 3.2 magnitude earthquake occurred in the city of Goygol.
The earthquakes occurred at 10:25 am, 29 kilometers northeast of Tovuz station. The epicenter was located at a depth of 14 kilometers.
The earthquake was felt at the epicenter and nearby regions in up to 3 points.
