An Atlanta appeals court Tuesday granted special prosecutor Jack Smith’s request to dismiss the case against the President-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, for the improper handling of classified documents at his residence in Florida.
The Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals ruled after Smith on Monday moved to dismiss that case and another involving Trump’s alleged attempt to interfere in the results of the 2020 election, the latter of which accepted on same day in federal court.
In a brief brief, the federal appeals court announced that “grants” the request made by Smith to dismiss the proceeding against the former president (2017-2021) for the withholding of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago, his residence and social club in Palm Beach.
