Court convicted fugitive blogger Shpak of military forgery

Moscow’s Basmanny Court sentenced blogger Alexander Shpak in absentia to eight years in prison for spreading false news about the Russian military, TASS reports.

“He found AK Shpak guilty under paragraph “d” of Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public dissemination of deliberately false information about the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation) and sentenced him to eight years of imprisonment in absentia,” – said Judge Boris Safrin.

The sentence will be calculated from the moment of Shpak’s arrest or extradition.

The blogger is also banned from managing Internet resources for four years.

It is clarified that while outside Russia, Shpak published false information about the explosion at the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, and also used the words “humiliate the Russians.”

Earlier, in January this year, Shpak was arrested in absentia in this criminal case.

As reported EADailyAfter the start of a special military operation, Shpak fled to Turkey. He actively runs his own social networks and continually collects money from subscribers.

In mid-August, Shpak burned a Russian passport while on US territory while singing the Ukrainian anthem. After that, his Instagram account was taken down.* was blocked. The blogger arrogantly suggested that he might be of interest to Russian security forces; an “FSB attack” allegedly led to his account being deleted.
