The president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón, announced this afternoon that he would create five immediate intervention groups, led by different advisors from his executive, to coordinate the reconstruction work and care for those affected by DANA.
In a public appearance, Mazón requested that seven government ministers join these working groups: Mónica García (Health), Óscar Puente (Transport), Pablo Bustindui (Social Assistance), Isabel Rodríguez (Housing), Carlos Body (Economy ), Maria Jesus. Montero (Hacienda) and Fernando Grande-Marlaska (Interior)
In addition, Mazón also demanded that the Chief of Defense Staff participate in the Integrated Operational Coordination Center (Cecopi), as Minister Marlaska has done in recent days.— collaborate in monitoring emergency care.
Carlos Mazón thus takes President Pedro Sánchez at his word, who offered all the means required by the Generalitat (“If you need more resources, ask for them“) and ruled out the government assuming sole control of the crisis by declaring a “national emergency”.
Among other measures, Mazón demanded that the central government “mobilization of the entire public housing stock of the State, in particular that of Sareb”, to rehouse the families who lost their homes in the tragedy.
Likewise, he asks the Government to act as a mediator with the banks to achieve the deferral of mortgages and personal loans of the people concerned.
The Generalitat will propose both measures within the Social Services and Housing working group, which will be led by its vice-president S.uses Camarero, and who he asks to join ministers Pablo Bustindui and Isabel Rodríguez.
The immediate intervention group inside, which will be led by the Valencian Minister of Justice, Salomé Pradas, with the participation of Minister Marlaska, will address not only the need to strengthen security in the streets, to put an end to looting and looting, with more presence of the Civil Guard and the National Police.
Mazón also wants this group to discuss with Marlaska the need to review the civil protection protocols of the Ministry of the Interior, so that it can send direct alerts to the population in the event of disasters like the one DANA experienced this week.
