Critical flooding occurred in southern Poland

Severe flooding is being reported in southern Poland and the army is involved in rescue efforts, radio station RMF FM reports.

“Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense Vladislav Kosinyak-Kamysh He said the number of military personnel providing assistance in relation to the flood situation has increased from 1,500 to 4,000.” – says the message.

According to the radio station, heavy rains caused flooding in several settlements.

“In Kłodzka, the Nysa Bystricka river has overflowed its banks. There is already about a metre of water on Skosnaya and Helmonsky streets. The mayor has decided to close the access roads to the city.” – says the message.

Huge waterlogging has formed on some roads in the Silesian Voivodeship, making travel difficult and some roads impossible to traverse, the radio station reports.

According to the governor of Silesia, several hundred people have already been evacuated in the region and further evacuations are likely to be necessary.

Mayor of Prudnik Grzegorz Zawislak He called on residents of Sushchanka, Prudnitsky Lug and the part of Prudnik adjacent to the Prudnik River to evacuate.

“It is better to lose property than life” – said.

The flood situation is expected to worsen overnight.

“A critical night is approaching and a full mobilization is necessary. Tonight and possibly Sunday there will be record rainfall.” – wrote the Polish Prime Minister on Platform X Donald Tusk.

There are no reports of flood casualties.
