He mayor of Cordobathe popular José María Bellido, presented this Monday the new sound and light show of Christmas Street Cross account. The advisor announced that it will be lit, and with it all the extraordinary lighting of this celebration, the December 4coinciding with the long extended weekend in the last month of the year.
The operators of Ximenez Iluminación, a company that won the competition to offer it, They have been working since the end of November in the central street to install it. The changes introduced in this edition are already observed simply by following this path: the structure on this occasion is a solid arc.
The first mayor recalled that the show is entitled ‘shower of stars‘. “What we are proposing is a simulation of the fall of lights, in a light tunnel 230 meters long,” explained Bellido. “This tunnel will have complete arches for the first time; Before, they were average. We will also integrate into the show the trees by Cruz Condé. They will be 46 and they will have 49,680 LED light points. In total, the show will have 487,000 LED points,” Bellido explained.
Significant budget increase
THE improvements They are piloted by a budget increase dedicated by the municipal council to this initiative. Municipal spending has increased by almost 50%. The expenses increase from 484,000 euros per year to another which amounts to 719,950. It will again be proposed by Ximenez Iluminación, which won the competition for Easter and 2025/2026 – the award is renewable for two years.
In this edition, there will be five passes -the same as in previous Christmases-. The specifications provided for a minimum of three and the Pontanba company introduced two more as improvements. As for the music which will be played during the show, in the moments of the hiring, Ximenez Iluminación explained that he was going to replay the classic ‘All I Want for Christmas’ by Mariah Carey -last Easter it fell from the ‘playlist’-. Five pieces of Christmas-themed music can be heard. The municipal council preferred to keep the other four songs secret.
What the mayor has clearly indicated is that he is committed to this improvement of the spectacle by seeking reinforce the objectives with which it was launched in 2019: promote the celebration of Christmas, which, during the 2015/2019 mandate, experienced a very gray period with the PSOE at City Hall; and encourage the arrival of visitors to the capital at Easter.
