Since 2012, he led an agency, which, meanwhile, with twenty correspondent: inside the island and provided video reports, especially for portals in the United States. “At first we worked on TV Martí, later for Cubanet and delivered a lot of what was broadcast in the USA, as well as in the direction of Cuba to inform people,” the trained computer scientist explains. Lobine comes from the east of the island, was born in Barakoa and grew up in Guantanamo.
In Guantanamo, he began to participate in Cuba in the plural and build an agency. He lived in Havana for several months to purchase orders for Palque Visión, to be closer to messages and study new options. Lobaina hopes for orders from EU countries, such as the Czech Republic, France or Germany. But still without great success, so he had to sell personal belongings to take care of his children.
“Since Donald Trump closed USAID in January, it is unlikely that any money went to an independent media in Cuba. We are in a dangerous situation, although we report on social suffering, failures of power and the economic crisis, it would be important, ”says a scientist computer scientist.
“Act on the back mountain”
He delivers two reports per month for the Kubanet, a long -term information channel financed by the US government, which now lives from donations. It is no longer there, and most of the independent journalists: inside, who is still working on the island, are desperately looking for orders for the corresponding Cuba portals, such as Cuba Diario, Adcube, Kubanet or Martis, Lobaina reports.
Orders on well -based documentary films, such as documentary data on youth, a crisis in the education system or the situation with pensioners: inside on the island, which are on the palette -viz home page, are currently not included. “We act on the back burner,” he explains.
This applies to many free colleagues, confirms Ivan Garcia. He works a correspondent for a daily newspaper Diario las américas From Miami. “It is unlikely that any colleague is currently earning more than $ 150 a month, millions of USAID are absent here, but also in Honduras, Nicaragua or Guatemala. We lose critical media portals. They close or go abroad, ”explains a 59-year-old football player from Havana, who has been working as a freelancer since the mid-1990s.
Nevertheless, the government in the free press is also responsible for the emigration of entire editorial offices, such as El -toque, which are currently working from the United States. According to Lobaina, several laws, including “for social communication”, de -factor prohibits all the media that are not related to the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC).
Criminalization
“The work of independent journalists is not the latter, with this law, we are criminalized, and the new Criminal Code offers many areas for this,” explains the family man whose youngest son accompanies him today. According to Lobine, who was already in prison, two journalists from Palenk -Viz -Viz were sentenced to four or three years in prison in Kamagui in the center of Cuba.
Currently, he hopes for orders from the Czech portal, for which Palenque Visión has already worked in the past. “We would like to report social suffering, we can refer to the experience of about 5,000 small and larger reports, but we need support from the line,” he says and will quickly examine the mobile phone. Still nothing. Then he says goodbye and slowly descends along Calle Galeano, a dilapidated trade mile in the center of Havana.
