The President of the Cyprus Republic Nikos Christodulides in a television appeal announced a series of initiatives aimed at supporting those who are faced with problems after fatal fires.
The long assembly was preceded by a presidential residence in a labor coat with the participation of competent ministers, officials and mayors who, in one way or another, participate in both the disaster record and in the proper compensation of the victims. I communicate directly with you in difficult times for our country, after we have experienced terrible fires in the mountain Limassol, who led to the tragic loss of our two compatriots, the injuries of our counterparts, the destruction of property, the environment, land, and farmers.
First of all, I again express my deepest sadness for our brothers -people that we have lost so tragically, and my sincere condolences to their relatives.
I personally survived superhuman efforts in difficult conditions, professionals and volunteers to cope with the fire storm in order to avoid further distribution, with the main concern of human life. That is why I would like to thank all those who overcome themselves, firefighters, foresters, mayors, volunteers, police, state and other services, members of the National Guard, Civil Defense and People in Communities to deal with them
At the same time, as a result, it is necessary to improve the defects of the system and appropriate mechanisms so that we can respond to such critical incidents. And this, despite the fact that, among other things, we increased due to the increase in fire and forest launchers, we provided the maximum number of volatile medium, tightened fines and transferred the flying to the National Guard. Thus, we need to see what did not work, because it did not work and did some corrective movements.
As a state, we must determine all gaps, omissions and admit that at such a critical moment we did not answer as we owe. On the name of the state, I apologize.
I have already given instructions by the end of the week, all interested parties submit complete reports on evaluating their role and participation in the fire department. These reports in the context of transparency will also be published. Based on these reports, subsequent steps will be determined. We need to see exactly what we need to change in order to be faster and effective, because, unfortunately, these phenomena, a consequence of climate change, will not disappear.

Today I met with the presidents of the Soviets under the direct influence of the communities in the presence of the relevant ministers and the commissar for the development of mountainous regions. During the meeting, having heard their own assessments and personal certificates of what happened and where the shortcomings were determined, we agreed on the immediate actions of the government in support of the victim. We will be next to everyone and everyone. Together we will go through this test.
Specifically:
- Direct payment of financial support to communities to cover an emergency. The amounts have already been paid on the previous Friday, and additional needs will be satisfied in consultation with communities.
- Temporary housing affected and satisfied immediate basic needs, as well as psychological support, in consultation and cooperation with mayors.
- Rent of subsidies for those who have become their unfortunate home as long as it is required.
- Full repair of damage to the property of the victim. For houses that are not insured and underwent a full disaster, financial support will be provided for full rehabilitation with current market prices. If they were damaged and need to be repaired, a table price table will be assigned to be compensated. Those inhabitants who have security will be paid immediately, how much it will be paid. I emphasize that in order to pay as soon as possible, you will not need to submit documents to pay for financial support.
- Direct compensation, providing 100% loss of income for one year, to all farmers and breeders of the victim of the district.
- A reactivation plan, rehabilitation of infrastructure and mechanical equipment, specialists and napharmers.
- The reactivation plan, restoration of infrastructure and mechanical equipment of small businesses.
- One support that will be paid over the next few days for those families that their houses received complete or even significant damage. In particular, the amount of 10,000 euros will be provided to each family, the first place of residence of which was completely destroyed, as well as 2000 euros for each dependent and the amount of 5,000 euros in each family, the damage of which was partially damaged, as well as 1000 euros for each dependent. Our vulnerable compatriots will be given, and any personalized support is required.
- Monthly compensation for three months of all employees and self -guided employees who are affected by their business and cannot work.
- Full restoration of the vast majority of water supply and electric networks in the coming days.
- Non -payment by permanent residents and enterprises of annual fees and taxes. The total amount will be paid by the government of communities.
- Environmental recovery of the region.
