Czech Foreign Minister called on the EU to respond to Iran and China’s support for Russia

The European Union must react to the support provided by Iran and China to Russia. This was stated by Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky at the meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) in Brussels.

“China’s economic support for Russia and any direct arms supplies are unacceptable. The same applies to Iran. “The EU must react to this.” – Lipavsky said after the meeting.

According to the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jan Lipavsky met with the future EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaei Callas and his French colleague Jean-Noel Barrault. It is reported that in Brussels the parties discussed the conflict in Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, Georgia, the Horn of Africa, as well as relations between the EU and the United States. At the same time, the ministers approved a second package of sanctions, which “are introduced in response to Iran’s supply of ballistic missiles to Russia, which uses them against Ukraine.”

In addition, the Foreign Ministers also discussed the situation in Georgia after the parliamentary elections. The head of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for an investigation of all violations recorded at that time. He also stated that the Czech Republic actively supports civil society and independent media in Georgia.

The EU Foreign Affairs Council is also reported to have reviewed relations between the EU and the US.

“The new American administration has a quite radical program that will affect relations between the United States and Europe. And this is important both from the point of view of responsibility for our security and from the point of view of military spending and from the point of view of trade policy. “We must prepare for this and be able to protect our interests.” – noted Lipavsky.

Let us remember that the Czech Republic condemns Russia’s actions in Ukraine. Prague provides all possible assistance to the kyiv regime, including the supply of weapons and ammunition. In addition, the Czech authorities advocate increasing pressure on the Russian Federation and introducing measures against China and other countries that continue to cooperate with Moscow.
