Dacia fully enters the C-SUV segment with the official launch this Wednesday of the new Bigster, a large vehicle – 4.17 meters high and 1.71 meters high – which wants to compete with Chinese brands in terms of low prices, of 25,000 eurosand an input power of 140 HP.
The Bigster arrives with new original Dacia engines – having used the experience of the Renault group – with different levels of hybridization and the ECO label from the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT).
Concretely, this car is the first to integrate within the group the Hybrid engine 155 consisting of a 4-cylinder gasoline engine, two electric motors – a 50 horsepower motor and a high voltage starter/generator -, a 1.2 kilowatt/hour (230 volt) battery and a gearbox electrified automatic.
In this case, the braking system allows the driver to offer up to 80% of city driving time in fully electric mode. In addition, starting is systematically carried out in 100% electric mode.
In addition, Dacia has integrated the new TCe 140 engine with a 1.2-liter 3-cylinder gasoline engine with a 48 V mild hybrid system and a 6-speed manual gearbox. This system reduces fuel consumption by around 10%.
Dacia renews its design with the Bigster
The new Bigster arrives with a renewed design, but with the brand image of a Dacia. alloy rims 17 or 18 inches as standard -with the possibility of reaching 19 inches- and two infotainment screens.
In addition, Dacia has integrated three types of central consoles for the front seats in the car: low, intermediate or, for the first time in a car of the group, a high console which integrates an armrest with a refrigerated compartment, an induction charger and storage space. In terms of fabrics, the vehicle has up to four finishes.
Inside I designinteriorDacia has opted for 40/20/40 modularity to take advantage of the space when there are two or five passengers by folding the rear part of the vehicle by activating a lever located on the trunk.
Concerning accessibility, the Bigster has a hands-free card and an electrically opening tailgate. The latter, standard in finish Journey and optional in Extremecan be activated in three ways: using the button on the trunk door next to the license plate light, using the button on the dashboard or using the control located on the key.
“With the new Bigster, we have managed to faithfully respect the intentions expressed with the Bigster Concept. The vehicle fully expresses all of Dacia’s values and now becomes the flagship,” declared the design director of the manufacturer integrated into the Renault group, David Durand.
