The torrential rains and violent winds caused by the passage of the DANA for the Valencian Community This Tuesday they left countless destruction in the community, especially in the province of Valencia. The AManises Airport, which canceled at least 10 departure flights and diverted 12 others that were due to land in Valencia, was one of the places affected by the DANA. Images shared on social networks show devastated airport runways, flooded by waters that DANA fell on the city.
DANA caused great damage in the Valencian Community, in the province of Albacete and in Malaga. Carlos Mazón, president of the Generalitat Valenciana, confirmed on Tuesday evening that DANA has suffered victims, especially in the areas where it has been hardest hit, such as Utiel-Requena, La Ribera and Horta. The number of missing people also continues to rise.
Adif suspended the AVE line between Madrid and Valencia in the afternoon due to the accumulation of water in the railway crossing areas. The Cercanías Valencia service has also been suspended. Flooding from overflowing rivers and ravines left images of flooded homes, businesses and vehicles swept away by the water. In addition, the flooding of the river caused the collapse of a bridge in the municipality of Picaña.
An AVE bound for Madrid and with almost 300 passengers derailed in the morning in Malaga, where DANA also affected. The rains left more than 870 emergency situations in Andalusia.
Additionally, this evening the government established a crisis committee, chaired by the first vice-president, Maria Jesus Montero, to monitor the effects of DANA, particularly in the Valencian Community and Castile-La Mancha, and in coordination with the rest of the public administrations. The crisis committee will meet continuously to analyze the situation until the DANA refer. From this Wednesday, it will be chaired by the head of the Executive, Pedro Sanchez, as reported by Moncloa in a press release this Tuesday.
