This summer afternoon, the hall at the Maison de la danse in Lyon is full. On display, Instincts sheet musicby the choreographer and dancer Louis Combeaud. Dressed in black and white, about ten dancers form a line and then move forward slowly, to the beat of Laurie Anderson’s music.

Since 2017, she has organized “Dance and mental health” projects with the Maison de la danse de Lyon.
“It is about offering caregivers and patients the opportunity to participate in a collective, very civic adventure, where everyone has their place”describes Emmanuel Monneron, also a dancer and choreographer. “When we participate in a project that leads us to discover shows, share with other people, express ourselves, get on stage in front of an audience, we contribute to the life of a community.the psychiatrist continues. Everyone is there as dancers. It is an inclusive project that also aims to fight discrimination. »
Improvisations and letting yourself go
His previous collaboration with Canadian choreographer Ariane Boulet resulted in a medium-length film released in 2023, Insideby Claire Jugé. Instincts sheet music is the subject of a documentary by director Pierre Schonbrodt that will be broadcast on Belgian television RTBF on 1Ahem December 2024.
Here, the young people were cared for by the PEP (Structured Intervention Program for First Episodes of Psychosis) teams, with a follow-up that lasted three years.
