A group of independent researchers has discovered a software vulnerability that could take control of millions of KIA vehicles of various models.

According to the information, for unauthorized remote access, it is enough to know the car number and enter the brand’s customer portal. After that, it is possible to unlock the car doors, start the engine and at the same time find out the name of the owner, including all his information (phone number, home address and email address).
The hackers reported the issue to the manufacturer and it was fixed.
The software breach reportedly affected millions produced after 2013.
It covered the models “Seltos”, “Soul”, “Sorento”, “Sportage”, “Stinger”, “Telluride”, “Forte”, “Niro”, K5, EV6 and EV9.
