Daniel Sancho, sentenced to life in prison for the murder and dismemberment of Edwin Arrieta

Spaniard Daniel Sancho was sentenced to life in prison on Thursday after being found guilty by a Thai judge of murder Colombian surgeon’s premeditation Edwin Arrieta and the two other crimes he was accused of.

The judge of Samui Provincial Court (southern Thailand) began reading the judgment at 10:55 a.m. local time (0355 GMT), about an hour after the hearing began, in which he said the sentence had been reduced from death to life imprisonment for the defendant’s collaboration.

THE Thai Prosecutor’s Office accused Sancho of the premeditated murder of Arrieta on August 2, 2023 on the island of Phangan, of his dismemberment and of the theft of the Colombian passport, crimes for which the judge today found the Spaniard guilty.

He also ordered Sancho, who was present in the courtroom, to pay Arrieta’s family $119,000 in compensation.
