SYNOPSIS
THE plot It takes place twenty years after the original action, in 1648. But from that moment on, as Víctor Iriarte points out, “we invented everything. Athos, Porthos and Aramís, the musketeers, now pay for their youthful excesses in already tired bodies. That’s not a bad lesson for today’s viewer. remember that the abuse of young peopleexcess at the table and drinking they usually end up paying“.
Cardinal Richelieu has died and the role of “very bad” now falls to Mazzarino. Luis, the “Dauphin” and son of the kings of France, studied in Holland and to avoid war against this country, D’Artagnan calls the offspring of his musketeers“nails autonomous girls and a boy with clear ideas», continues the author of the book.
“We offer a fiction unrelated to Dumas’ bookswritten and set to music with the conviction that the writer would not dare to modify it. “I would have smiled at our last wink: a resounding ‘to be continued’ because the public is always waiting for new volumes,” he remembers, alluding to the original novel that Alexandre Dumas published in installments between March and July 1844 in the French newspaper “Le siècle”.
As for the the composer and musical director Jesús Echeverría, explains that the opera is composed in one act and eight scenes. “It’s complex in its design but simple in its listening,” he emphasizes. Based on recurring musical motifs which accompany the characters, it is nourished by a very elaborate harmonic framework.
“A was used aesthetic accessible to the listener and at the same time difficult for the performer. The scenes are well differentiated musically, taking into account the characters who intervene in them.
For this reason, Echeverría continues his explanation: “it goes from comical to tragicfrom melancholic to terrifying or from uncertainty to happiness through music.
