David Broncano, preacher of the 11th edition of the First Oil Festival in Andújar

The comedian and presenter from Jaén, David Broncanowas charged with announce the eleventh edition of the Jaén First Oil Festival which is celebrated this weekend in the town of Andújar.

This event organized by Provincial Council of Jaénwith the collaboration of the Junta de Andalucía, the City Hall of Andújar and the Chamber of Commerce of Andújar, includes multiple activities to learn more about the ancient culture of the olive tree and aims to place the province of Jaén as a world reference for olive groves.

“This event will shine the spotlight on the world of olive groves and olive oil in Andújar and the province of Jaén,” said the president of the Provincial Council of Jaén, Paco Reyes, at the institutional event, and added that “we come together around our star product and the ancient culture of the olive tree, of which “Our territory is a world reference.”

This event, in which they participate around a hundred olive oil companies of the province of Jaén – 93 oil mills and cooperatives and 7 companies linked to the cosmetics of olive oil and wood -, has become “an unmissable and highly anticipated event” both by the olive sector of Jaén and by the sector tourist and “here We show the essence of what we are, of this green blood which flows in the veins of our province, of this liquid gold which distinguishes us and which, today, places us as references in the production of “highest quality olive oil.”

For his part, the famous presenter of ‘La Revuelta’ emphasized that “talking about olive oil and the province of Jaén is easy, not only because of my connection with this land, but also because EVOO is the simplest product to sell, since you just need to test it to understand its importance and quality.

In the same line, chef Enrique Sánchez, who was appointed ambassador, stressed “feeling proud to be ambassador of a such an exquisite and healthy product, a fundamental element of the cuisine that has its own name and surname, EVOO de Jaén.

Multitude of activities

The institutional act of this festival was preceded by a tapas tasting with the first oil, bread and honey of this city, in which the current authorities participated, as well as the crier and the ambassador of this year, who then proceeded to the opening of the oil fair, during which the public can taste the almost a hundred of early extra virgin brands present in this edition, as well as buy cosmetic or craft products made from olive oil or olive wood.
