Death of Fernando Ponce de León, flautist of Mägo de Oz

Former Mägo de Oz flautist Fernando Ponce de León died this Friday at the age of 59, as announced by the band’s singer, José Andrea, on his Instagram account.

“One of the best people I have met in this life has left, a noble, cultured, funny and intelligent person but above all empathetic and a great friend to his friends. The words still don’t come out,” said the musician.

“His musical legacy will always live on, just as it will remain etched in my memory, wherever it may be. I hope to find you as I remember you when we meet again brother, bringing out those beautiful melodies that I fell in love with and I will join you with my voice, in the meantime rest in peace my beloved Fernando,” he added. his profile on this social network.

Ponce de León left the group in 2010, but before that he participated in albums such as The Legend of La Mancha, Finisterra, The City of Angels, Gaia either Belfast.

In addition to being part of this influential folk metal group, Ponce León also joined the group José Andrea y Uróboros.
