The president and editor-in-chief of La Voz de Galicia, Santiago Rey Fernández-Latorre, died this Wednesday, as confirmed by the media themselves and reported by Europa Press.
At the age of 85, he died of an illness that caused his health to deteriorate rapidly in recent days, he said after his death.
In the next few hours, his mortal remains will rest in the Santiago Rey Fernández-Latorre Museum, located in the industrial area of Sabón, in Arteixo (A Coruña) and where the awards of the same name, which he chaired in recent years, will be recognized.
Born in A Coruña on August 31, 1938, Santiago Rey, grandson of the newspaper’s founder, Juan Fernández Latorre, entered the business world in 1961 and, two years later, assumed its management under the presidency, at the time, of his father Rey Romero, and would subsequently develop a long career at the head of this media.
