The one who was the maid of the Virgen del Rocío, Ana Morales Gonzalezdied this Wednesday at the age of 76, following a prolonged illness which worsened in recent weeks.
The great-granddaughter, great-niece, daughter and sister of the maids of the Virgen del Rocío accepted this distinction together with her older sister, María del Carmen, on October 7, 2000, by unanimous agreement of the Board of Directors chaired by Pedro Rodríguez Villa, after the death of her mother, Ana Gonzalez Acevedo in May 1986.
As a maid, she lived through historic moments for Rocío. From the closing of the Marian and Mariological Congresses in 1992, to the Visit to the Rocío Shrine of Pope Saint John Paul II in June 1993, as well as the visit of King Juan Carlos and Mrs. Sofía, in September 1992, and of Felipe VI and Mrs. Letizia, in February 2020. On August 9, on the occasion of the celebrations of the centenary of the death of her great-grandmother, Ana Valladolid Moreno (1855-1924), posed for the family photograph taken at the initiative of the Mother Brotherhood at the Real del Rocío monument and at the round table dedicated to the woman to whom she had given her first name.
