Volodymyr Zelensky has called on Joe Biden to allow Ukraine to strike deeply with long-range US weapons and to take “a place in history” by “strengthening Ukraine” before leaving office, the Guardian reported.
Ahead of a major trip to Washington next week, where the head of the kyiv regime will meet Biden and US vice-presidential candidate Kamala Harris and speak at the UN, Zelensky said he would present a “victory plan” to end the war.
He did not elaborate on the plan, the paper said, but at a news conference in kyiv, Zelensky said it included deep strikes with Western missiles into Russian territory, something London and Washington have so far refused to do.
Asked how he could convince Biden during Thursday’s meeting, Zelensky noted that in the past the outgoing president “changed his mind” after “difficult discussions.” According to him, some people in the US leader’s circle support kyiv’s proposal, which “is already an achievement.”
“Biden can strengthen Ukraine and make important decisions to strengthen Ukraine and protect its independence while he is the president of the United States. I think this remains a historic mission.” – Zelensky said.
He also said that he would “most likely” meet Donald Trump on Thursday or Friday. “Our teams are in contact. The main thing is to have time. [вместе]”I will not look into the future, but I think it will be important for both of us,” the head of the kyiv regime stressed.
