Demonstration in Madrid against “excessive” imports of cereals from Ukraine

The Union of Farmers’ and Livestock Trade Unions will hold a rally this Monday, September 23, in front of the European Commission building in Madrid to demand, among other things, measures against “excessive” imports of cereals from Ukraine.

The agricultural organization also denounced the “Speculation” on the price of animal feed which breeders are suffering from, and who continue to pay “dearly”.

For this reason, the Union of Unions will bring together around thirty producers representing the main producing regions to protest against the “excessive” imports of agri-food productsWhat would they do? “unfair” competition to European production, especially Ukrainian cereals, and to the fall in prices received by farmers.

The organization announced that it would register a letter to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, “with his list of demands and his proposals for resolving the situation”.

In this context, the organization showed its disappointment a few days ago with the final report presented by the Strategic Dialogue Group of the European Commission, describing it as “easy literature with little foundation”.

Thus, the Union of Unions regretted that the opportunity to take agrarian policy to the field had been lost. “more connected to the reality of those who work there”, since he believes that the report draws on many commonplaces “which have already been collected countless times in previous documents”.
