Demonstration in Madrid calls for free abortion in public health care

Screaming “Free, safe and free abortion“, the participants joined the demonstration called by the Madrid Commission for the Right to Abortion, on the occasion of the International Day for Sexual and Reproductive Rights and the Decriminalization of Abortion, which takes place this Saturday between Madrid roundabout of San Bernardo de la Callao Carré.

“We are here to claim our autonomy and our diversity, our sexual and reproductive freedom, for everyone, in all regions of the world,” said the organizers. Likewise, the commission denounced that in the Community of Madrid there is still no register of conscientious objectors required by law and that “unpunished harassment by anti-electoral groups” continues at the doors of authorized clinics to practice voluntary termination of pregnancy.

“Abortion is still in the Penal Code and there are still many limitations,” explained a demonstrator in statements to laSexta. “Abortion must be a free decision for all women and all women must be willing to carry it out.“, adds another of the protesters.

In this sense, the spokesperson for Más Madrid, Marta Carmona, who attended the demonstration accompanied by the leader of this party in the Madrid Assembly, Manuela Bergerot, indicated that In the Community of Madrid, “abortion cannot be performed in practically any public center”. According to him, if the opposite situation occurred, “many problems related to abortion would be eliminated, such as the harassment of anti-abortionists.”
