The president of the General Council of Dentists, the Dr. Oscar Castro Reinowas appointed vice-president of the Professional Union (UP), the association which brings together the collegial professions in Spain and which currently chairs the Dr Tomás Cobo Castrowho is also the head of the Collegiate Medical Organization. Dr. Castro emphasized after his appointment that “It is an honor to assume the vice-presidency of the UP, currently made up of 36 General and Superior Councils and professional associations at the national level, which bring together more than 1,200 associations and territorial delegations and 1,500,000 professionals registered on Spanish territory”.
The appointment of Dr. Castro Reino represents an important recognition of his career in the health field and his dedication to advancing the professional interests of the field of dentistry. The UP was created in 1980 with the aim of defending the common interests of the professions, covering various sectors, such as legal, economic, health, social, scientific, teaching, architecture and engineering.
The goal set by Dr. Castro is to strengthen collaboration between different professions and ensure that all professional activities are always carried out with respect high ethical and quality standards. In this sense, he underlined his determination to “defend the role of collegial professions as guarantors of the public interest and the well-being of society”. To this end, the aim is to strengthen inter-professional collaboration, an essential step to address the common challenges faced by all professions, by guaranteeing the rights of registered professionals and ensuring compliance with the aforementioned ethical and quality standards.
Dr Castro emphasizes that this is “a significant challenge”but he is “convinced that by working alongside Dr. Tomás Cobo we will achieve great achievements and that the UP will continue to be a reference in defending the values that the professions represent and their commitment to society.”
