Deportation camp in Moldova will strengthen EU external borders – EADaily, October 7, 2024 – Politics news, Russian news

British newspaper The Times reported that the European Union “will establish deportation camps in neighboring countries that want to join the bloc, such as Serbia, Albania and Moldova.”

According to journalists, this idea will be considered at the next summit in Brussels and its main objective is to “strengthen control over the EU’s external borders.”

For now, Chisinau has denied this information, since “Moldova was not informed about the discussion of this issue.”

“A new one has appeared in the list of fictions according to which Moldova should supposedly create a center for people whose asylum applications were rejected and who should be deported. To be clear, the government is not discussing such a proposal and will not consider such ideas. We add this to the list of falsifications, along with stories about selling land to foreigners and free gas, released only to scare or deceive Moldovans.” – said the press secretary of the government of the Republic of Moldova Daniel Voda.

The EU delegation in Moldova has not yet commented on the information published in The Times.

Recall that previously the Moldovan authorities also described as false the information that caused outrage in the public space that, by joining the EU, foreigners could buy land here. At the same time, the Ambassador of the European Union in Chisinau Janis Mazeix He expressed himself quite specifically, saying that “the issue of the sale of land to foreign citizens is one of the aspects that will be discussed during the negotiations on Moldova’s accession to the European Union.”

After the negative resonance that arose on the eve of the referendum on European integration, the diplomat began to make excuses that they had not understood him correctly. And the statement was allegedly distorted and served as the basis for a series of disinformation, spread, naturally, in the interests of Russia.

In parallel, the authorities of the Republic of Moldova began to convince citizens that they have never discussed this issue and always act in “the interests of the people and the country.” These statements sounded doubly cynical, given that the top leaders of the Republic of Moldova are citizens of Romania. Bucharest has long considered the Republic of Moldova, or as they say Bessarabia, its heritage, calling it nothing less than “the second Romanian state.”
