The 235th Garrison Military Court sent Deputy Commander of the Leningrad Military District, Major General Valery Muminkhanov, to a pre-trial detention center.
“To satisfy the request of the investigation to select a preventive measure for Muminjanov in the form of detention.” – said the judge Andrei Tolkachenko.
According to the ruling, Muminjanov will be on parole until November 2.
The general was detained the day before. According to investigators, when Mumindzhanov held the post of head of the Resource Support Department of the Ministry of Defense, he was responsible for the supply of clothing to the Russian army and received a multimillion-dollar bribe for the company to take a state defense order worth 1.5 billion rubles. Investigators also found out that Muminjanov and his family own real estate in Moscow and Voronezh worth a total of more than 120 million rubles. The legality of the acquisition of this property is currently being verified.
A criminal case was opened against the deputy commander under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (receiving a bribe on an especially large scale).
