The 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) is being held in Baku.

Mansur Oshurbayev, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan Oku.Azhe said in an interview.

Oshurbayev emphasized that Azerbaijan is a brother country of Kazakhstan and COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev is a close friend.

“During the preparation of COP29, Kazakhstan stated in advance that it is ready to provide maximum support and make all efforts on behalf of the Kazakh people to make the event in Baku more interesting and complete,” the deputy minister noted.

He added that the countries of the Caspian littoral always support each other, and this was reflected in the signing of several documents within the framework of COP29, including important agreements on the energy cable under the Caspian Sea.

Oshurbayev said he was proud to represent Kazakhstan at a high level at this event. He added that for the first time in the history of Kazakhstan the country was represented at the COP by a separate pavilion.

“All pavilions and areas of the COP are organized at a high level by the government of Azerbaijan,” Oshurbayev said, underlining that huge works are underway in Baku.

The deputy minister expressed hope that COP29 will help accelerate the process of solving financial problems related to climate change, which is especially important for the countries of Central Asia and the Caspian coastal states. Kazakhstan has launched a number of initiatives, including carbon farming, aimed at combating land degradation.

Oshurbayev also referred to the problems of drought and water resources and highlighted their impact on the economy of Kazakhstan.

“The environmental aspects of climate change are the most important factors and if we do not understand it, tomorrow it will be too late,” said the deputy minister, underlining that COP29 is not just an event, but an opportunity to meet like-minded people. and possible financial sources for the implementation of environmental projects.
