The Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation paid a visit to the Republic of Niger, where he met with the Prime Minister of the transitional period, Ali Mahamane Lamine Zein.
According to the press service of the Russian Cabinet of Ministers, the deputy prime minister also met in Niamey (capital of Niger) with the president of the National Council for the Defense of the Fatherland. Abdurahman Chiani.
During the meeting, the parties affirmed that the countries consider themselves important partners. The prospects for further cooperation in the humanitarian field, also in the fields of education, culture and sports, were discussed.
The issues of developing practical cooperation in the field of energy, agriculture, infrastructure projects, as well as geological exploration and development of mineral reserves were also discussed.
Alexander Novak emphasized that the Second Russia-Africa Summit, which took place in St. Petersburg last summer with the participation of the President of Russia and the leaders of African states, gave new impetus to our country’s cooperation with African partners.
“Today, joint projects of regional importance are actively developing, aimed at improving the quality of life of people, including access to electricity and the development of transport infrastructure.” – concluded the minister.
