The position of Western countries regarding the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) is hypocritical.
This was stated by political scientist Ilgar Valizade in his statement to “Report” about the fact that the majority of profiles carrying out an active large-scale campaign against COP29 to be held in Azerbaijan on the social network platform ” X” use fake accounts in a coordinated and massive manner.
He assessed this trend as part of the West’s anti-Azerbaijani campaign:
“At that time, Western countries supported holding COP29 in Azerbaijan and made a unanimous decision about it. If Baku was chosen as the host, then they believe and show confidence in Azerbaijan. If not, then they opposed the candidacy. of Azerbaijan. It is interesting and surprising that the West believed. Why is it carrying out a smear campaign against Azerbaijan? This is a clear example of hypocrisy. we have seen the same situation before. Azerbaijan, they do not show their intentions.
According to I. Valizadeh, his insincere behavior has significantly reduced trust in the West in the world:
“These unfair approaches of the West also apply to other regions of the world. Those who again attack Azerbaijan, in reality demonstrate with these activities their true nature. However, their efforts cannot have any results. The intention of those who want to create has fulfilled the negative opinion about Azerbaijan in relation to COP29. In any case, Azerbaijan will successfully host this event of global importance and the global climate agenda will be widely discussed at the conference.”
It should be recalled that the commission against foreign interference and hybrid threats of the Milli Majlis and the Media Development Agency (MEDIA) issued joint information on November 1. In the information it was reported that the facts of coordinated and massive use of fake accounts by the majority of profiles carrying out an active large-scale campaign against COP29 to be held in Azerbaijan in “X” were revealed.
It has been observed that fake profiles manipulate content through bot systems by simultaneously publishing automatic responses with the same content under the hashtag #COP29, thus attempting to confuse public opinion.
It was stated that the main objective of these activities, organized on the basis of false information, is to create the illusion of mass discontent over the alleged hosting of Azerbaijan on the eve of COP29.
