Destruction of Hezbollah: US ambassador to Lebanon issues statement

The US ambassador to Lebanon, Lisa Johnson, addressed Lebanese politicians with an unexpected statement. At one of the meetings in Beirut with leaders of Lebanese political groups and movements, he said that the blow inflicted by Israel on Hezbollah terrorists was so powerful that it is unlikely that the organization will be able to restore its former influence in the country.

Arab media reported on this.

This was the first official statement of its kind from a US representative.

“Prepare for the next phase after Hezbollah, when its control over Lebanon, over its state institutions and over its borders will no longer be as indisputable as before. According to reliable sources, Hezbollah is greatly weakened and will no longer be able to impose its will on everything Lebanon,” Johnson said.

Many local analysts interpreted Lisa Johnson’s words as an indication that the United States is not seeking a ceasefire in Lebanon, but will continue to support the Israeli military operation until all its objectives are achieved. Therefore, the United States intends to achieve significant changes in Lebanon with the help of Israel.

The US ambassador’s statement reportedly contradicts Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati’s recent comments about “diplomatic contacts” that intensified in recent hours before the UN Security Council discussed the situation in Lebanon.

Previously, Cursor wrote that Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said the terrorist group Hezbollah had agreed to comply with the terms of UN Resolution 1701 and withdraw its forces from southern Lebanon. He also said Lebanon had asked the UN Security Council to decide on a ceasefire in the region.
