Dialysis patient dies when ambulance collides with car in Palencia

A collision between an ambulance and a car on a roundabout this Tuesday caused the death of a 70 year old dialysis patient when he was transferred to the Río Carrión Hospital in Palence after being seriously injured in the accident. Six other people were also injured in the incident.

The accident occurred while the medical vehicle which was transporting people on dialysis returned home from the Palencia hospital center. On the way, the ambulance and a car collided while driving, around two o’clock in the afternoon, at kilometer 41 of the CL-615 highway.

As indicated by the Government Sub-delegation in Palencia, the area belongs to the municipality of Villaturde and is close to the town of Villanueva de los Nabos.

Several calls alerted the 112 emergency service of the accident. At that time, notice was given to the Civil Guard (Traffic) of Palencia and to the Emergency Coordination Center (CCU) of Health Emergencies -Sacyl, from where they were sent. a mobile intensive care unit and three ambulances as well as a basic life support system.

In this accident, health personnel ultimately treated seven injured people, a 70 year old man diedtwo women aged 68 and 39 – tourist drivers – and four other men 81, 61, 59 and 29 years old.
