Dictator Maduro announces through his puppet parliament that Venezuela will sever relations with Spain

Jorge Rodriguez, president of the National Assembly of Venezuela, asked the deputies of the Venezuelan Parliament to approve a resolution to break diplomatic and commercial relations with Spain. Rodríguez’s request comes on the same day that the Congress of Deputies approved an illegal proposal by the Popular Party for the government of Pedro Sanchez recognize Edmundo González as the elected president of Venezuela.

“All representatives of the delegation of the Government of the Kingdom of Spain and all consulates and all consuls leave here (…) This is the most brutal attack by the Kingdom of Spain against Venezuela since the time we fought for our independence,” he stressed.

In this sense, he assured that the decision of this Wednesday “is equivalent to a declaration of war” against the Venezuelan people and against the government of President Nicolas Maduro. “And if they do not respect, why do we need to maintain diplomatic relations?” he asked.

In his long speech before the Assembly, Rodríguez assured that Spain was once again making “the same mistake” and “the same stupidity” as in 2019 when it recognized the opposition Juan Guaidó as the president in charge of the country.

“They are once again making the same mistake, the same error, the same stupidity, the same stupidity, the same imbecility (…) In the text of this affront that the so-called Spanish Cortes approved today, they express a profound ignorance of the electoral laws of Venezuela and of our Constitution,” he stressed.

Rodriguez praised “the decency of the deputies” who voted against “this absurdity.” “Sooner or later, we will know how much they charged for each vote,” he stressed, adding that these 177 are “representatives of the most rancid of the extreme right.”

Likewise, he criticized Spain as “a haven for fascists” and “putschists.” “The Spanish Constitution, a Constitution negotiated with the Franco regime, is full of elements that preserve one of the most murderous, brutal and fascist regimes that human history has ever known,” he said.

His remarks came during an extraordinary session held in Venezuela’s National Assembly to “reject the interventionist actions” of the Spanish Congress, as reported by VTB television channel.

The Congress, with the favorable vote of the PP, Vox, UPN, CC and PNV, approved a non-law proposal of the “popular” that urges the government to recognize González, a refugee in Spain since Sunday, as president-elect after the presidential elections of July 28 in Venezuela.

However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation reiterated to Europa Press that the government’s objective is to work to maintain the “common position as so far in the EU” to facilitate the “negotiated political solution” in Venezuela and this “includes analyzing whether the recognition of Edmundo González Urrutia can contribute to this.”
