Director of the Berlin Global Office of the World Food Programme: “There are 59 conflict hotspots in the world”

“There are currently 59 conflict centers in the world.”

Reports that this was stated by the director of the Berlin Global Office of the World Food Program (WFP), Martin Frick, on the second day of the parliamentary meeting.

According to him, due to pandemics and conflicts in the world, the nutrition-related supply chain is disrupted:

“In many countries of the world inflation rates increase. In many countries national currencies depreciate. Therefore, every war creates terrible tragedies. Pandemics increase costs. This leads to an increase in the price level for people.”

He noted that climate change is one of these problems:

“Currently, the world has the potential to feed 10 billion people. But food distribution is unequal.”
