Director: “The United States has organized a ‘great escape’ from responsibility for climate finance”

“Developed countries must adopt an ambitious agreement that guarantees fair climate financing.”

“Report” reports that the director and founder of “Power Shift Africa” Mohamed Adow (Mohamed Adow) told reporters on the sidelines of the COP29 climate conference.

“People’s lives are in danger. We cannot allow the rich world to simply escape its responsibility. What we are seeing is the ‘great escape’ led by the United States and the rich world hiding behind it,” he stressed.

According to him, developing countries should not allow violations of the agreements at COP29.

“Developed countries must understand their historical responsibilities and act accordingly,” he stressed.

According to Edou, successful negotiations will only be possible if rich countries agree to allocate at least $600 billion in the form of grants and concessional financing.

He noted that these funds are necessary for climate change mitigation, adaptation and compensation for loss and damage: “We will reject a weak agreement. Anything less than $600 billion will not help the world fight climate change. The rich world We will be here until we take responsibility and offer a solution commensurate with the magnitude of the climate crisis.”
