The Tax Agency and the Civil Guard dismantled the criminal organization of “Los Santos”, which allegedly defrauded 133 million euros of VAT hydrocarbons and allegedly laundered the capital obtained. The tax administration explained in a press release that the organization allegedly committed the fraud. during the 2020 and 2021 financial years, thanks to a “complex business network” led by a group of businessmen linked to the sector. These businessmen, explains the Treasury, were responsible for paying taxes to instrumental companies, which transferred the profits obtained through tax evasion. to bank accounts of other companies based in third countries.
Officials from the National Fraud Investigation Office (ONIF) of the Tax Agency and the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard participated in the operation. The operation is “framed within the fight against fraud committed on a recurring basis in this sector strategic” and is known a week after the discovery of another plot that had defrauded 180 million euros, in which the promoter of the Koldo plot, Víctor de Aldama, was involved, although they are not related .
