Outrage and unease This is what the PSOE councilors and women’s associations of Seseña (Toledo) felt this Monday, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, during an event organized in the hall plenary of the town hall.
During the reading of a manifesto of women’s associations and during the minute of silence in memory of the victims of gender violence, the councilor of Vox, Enrique Quesada, displayed a poster with the message: “We reject all types of violence.” which provoked the anger of elected socialists and women, even if the mayor, Jaime De Hita, of the PP, made no comment on the subject. Since 2023, he has governed with the support of two Vox advisors.
Quesada thus expressed the opinion of Vox, a party that does not recognize gender-based violence, and assured that this date “should serve as an opportunity to combat violence, all violence and its causes, instead of using it to promote ideologies that separate the Spanish and create a war of the sexes; “By reducing everything to gender-based violence, they won’t find us there,” Madrid Assembly deputy and Vox spokesperson José Antonio Fúster said on Monday.
