The Pentagon has released a declassified report on unidentified flying object (UFO) sightings, revealing how many reports turned out to be false. Often the “alien objects” turned out to be balloons, birds or drones.
This was reported by The Hill with reference to the Pentagon’s UFO Investigation Office (AARO).
The report documented more than 700 reports of possible unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) from May 1, 2023 to June 1, 2024. Of the 757 reports received during this period, 485 were related to events that occurred during the specified period and the remaining 272 were related to cases not previously recorded in 2021 and 2022.
Of the 757 reports, 118 were considered confirmed cases in which balloons, birds or drones were mistaken for UFOs. 174 messages are still being reviewed. In total, AARO is investigating 1,652 incidents, but the agency’s report emphasizes that “no evidence of extraterrestrial beings, technology or activity was found.”
“Anomalous phenomena occur, but we cannot establish a connection with extraterrestrial activity,” AARO director John Koslosky said at a news conference.
In addition, officials attribute the increase in the number of messages to the activation of citizens and their desire to share information. In this regard, AARO plans to conduct public education to prevent the spread of false or excessive claims about such events.
Interestingly, the report was released just a day after a US Congressional subcommittee heard testimony from witnesses, including former military personnel and experts, who argued that authorities were hiding evidence of the existence of extraterrestrial technology. These witnesses also stated that the government allegedly had access to “secret programs” and high-quality UFO images taken over years of sightings.
However, the AARO director denied these claims and said the agency has no information on advanced aerospace technologies in other countries. He noted that many observed UAPs remain a mystery because they represent “technologies that are beyond humanity’s current capabilities.”
“We need to protect confidential sources and methods. Although the very existence of UAPs is not a secret, it is important to protect information about these cases when we receive interesting data,” he added.
However, it was previously reported that witnesses described UFO sightings in the area of Area 51, as well as how the United States is searching for remains of extraterrestrial craft.
Recall that “Cursor” wrote that residents of Las Vegas and other Nevada cities are sharing videos showing strange objects that regularly appear near military bases, including the famous Area 51.
These objects are reported to be visible most frequently over key military installations, especially over the highly classified Area 51, located in the training area near the Groom Lake salt lake. Witnesses claim to have noticed bright, often cubic, objects that they say are always moving in the direction of Nellis Air Base. One of the witnesses, who lives nearby, claims to have observed similar phenomena more than a hundred times since June 2020.
