Donald Trump is “safe and sound”, Sunday, September 15, according to his campaign team, following the shootings that, according to a White House press release, took place “at the Trump International golf course (in Florida), where the former president practiced”.
The press release from the former president’s team does not specify where or when the events took place, it simply says ” shots near him » adding that there was “There are no further details at this time”.
It is not yet clear whether the shots were aimed at the candidate. The Secret Service, responsible for protecting presidents, former presidents and high-profile political figures, announced on X that “I was investigating with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office an incident involving former President Donald Trump that took place shortly before 2 p.m. (8 p.m. in Paris).”
US President Joe Biden and his Vice President Kamala Harris said “relieved” that former White House tenant Donald Trump, Republican candidate for re-election, is “safe and sound”According to a White House press release, “The President and Vice President have been informed of the security incident (…) Their teams will keep them informed regularly.”
On July 1, the former president was shot in the ear, killing one person and wounding two others at a meeting in Pennsylvania, in the north-east of the country. Images of Donald Trump, with blood running down his face and his fist raised, were broadcast around the world. This security fiasco led to the resignation of the head of the Secret Service and the granting of official leave to at least five agents of this unit responsible for protecting the highest American officials.
