Dozens of people camp in front of Valencia town hall to protest against housing

Several dozen people, who participated in the demonstration which took place Saturday afternoon in Valencia in protest against the housing situationcamped in front of the town hall to continue their demand for decent housing.

The protagonists of the campsite spent the night on the esplanade of the Place de l’Hôtel de Ville, where they set up around twenty tents in the shape of a circle. Next to the shops they placed the posters they showed during yesterday’s demonstration, some with the motto of Saturday’s demonstration: “València s’ofega” (“Valencia is drowning”).

As some campers explained, they decided to occupy the place during the demonstration and after various calls and proposals that circulated on social networks.

The campers have called an “open assembly” for 6 p.m. this afternoon, until which, at least for the moment, they will maintain the “occupation” of the place. At this meeting, they will decide on the next objectives and how long they will remain camped there.

In the meantime, they are asking for “people to support the occupation throughout the day” and “prepared food to share”, and have announced a series of activities and the making of banners.
