THE Civil Guard arrested a man who fled after crashing a car on August 11 an 87 year old woman with a walker on a pedestrian crossing in Güevéjar (Granada).
The individual, a 34-year-old man, was brought to justice as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and reckless injury.
The accused ran over the woman at kilometer 5,200 of the GR-3424, on the road leading to the city of Granada.
Camera footage shows the moment the vehicle hits the old woman.
The driver of the vehicle was driving “recklessly” in the left lane when he hit the elderly woman and, “far from stopping and helping the seriously injured woman”, he left the scene of the accident, according to the Civil Guard in a press release.
After check traffic control cameras of the city and by collecting statements from witnesses to the accident, it was possible to identify the vehicle that caused the accident, to know its registration plate and to identify the person who was driving it at that time.
