Berlin pelvis | With dry and hot summer, the lack of water in Brandenburg worsens. In response to drought, more and more districts and cities announced that the removal of surface waters is prohibited.

According to the Ministry of Environment, a total of eight out of 18 districts and independent cities have already imposed prohibitions on removal. Four more relevant measures are prepared, says a representative of the Ministry of Environment of Brandenburg. The districts of the district are followed by the concepts of low water in the country, developed in 2021.

If the drought is additionally aggravated, further measures may be followed: “For example, closing locks, a block for delivery or separation of small trench systems,” the speaker said.

More recently, the city of Kotbus introduced a complete ban on the removal of water last Thursday. “This general decree forbids residents to remove water from surface water all day through a pumping device,” the announcement of a city published on Thursday says.

Not affected by the removal of drinking water

Other districts, such as Spree-Neisse, initially prohibit the abolition of water during the day. “This measure is the softest means of preserving the goal of protection,” says the announcement of the district published on June 18.

Thus, residents are especially affected: inside the Earth on the waters and farmers that use sea and river water for irrigation. Drinking water from the tap does not fall below general orders and is still not limited to private consumers.

First of all, the ban perceives people to the topic of lack of water, says Kai Uwe Shvincer, a representative of the Potsdam-Mittelmark. The impact of measurements is difficult to understand, even large management elements are difficult to implement. “We will need much more employees for this,” says Shvincer.

But even sensitization is a reasonable measure, says Karsten Preus from the Brandenburg Association on Environment and Nature Preservation (Bund): “There are people who still blew their lawn 30 degrees.”

Low water alarm throughout Brandenburg

The German meteorological service called the spring one of the “most dry weather records from the beginning of the weather.” Brandenburg is also no exception. Thus, in a catbuses it was about half as much as in the average annual.

Finally, monitoring with a low water content in the country in almost all dimensions raised the alarm. With the exception of Löcknitz, the flow rate in all controlled waters fall below the threshold. The spectron is especially affected. At an average measurement point of a 2.2 cubic meter per second, even half of the minimum amount downstream passed.

The fall level may have serious consequences. “Witness is important for drinking water in Berlin,” explains ecologists -Prussian. Most of the drinking water is obtained through Bank Filtrate – so you should think about water supply in Brandenburg.

The groundwater level is also at risk of drought. “If there is no surface water, there is no main water supply,” says Pruss. According to a study published by the federal government in June, 15 out of 18 are 18 regions of Brandenburg, that is, “underground waters” – that is, more than can be formed.

Nevertheless, the country is still promoting water supply, such as large settlements as Tesla in Grunheid or Red Bull in Barut. Thus, the federal government calls for the main rethinking in the country’s water policy. The criterion for industrial settlements should be sufficient water availability, Preuss explains.
