Duke denies Israeli involvement in Lebanese radio and pager bombings – Sky News

Isaac Herzog has rejected claims that Israel was involved in the bombing of pagers and walkie-talkies in Lebanon. He said this today in an interview with Sky News, answering questions about the current state of the conflict in the Middle East.

“The President… denied Israeli involvement in the pager and walkie-talkie bombings this week that injured thousands of people across Lebanon. The Israeli president said he “categorically rejects any connection to any source of operations,” adding that Hezbollah has “many enemies.” – the television channel reports.

With fighting between Israel and the Lebanese group Hezbollah intensifying, Herzog acknowledged that there was a possibility of a “dramatic escalation” of the situation. Israel is “not interested” in a war with Lebanon, but the country is captured by Hezbollah and Israel is fighting “for the entire free world,” he stressed.

According to Herzog, Hezbollah has been “armed to the teeth” by Iran, and Iran wants to “conquer the Middle East and advance toward Europe and the rest of the world.”

Asked whether Israel would launch missile strikes against Iran, the duke said his country has “always made clear” that it will protect its people and “eliminate any existential threat to the State of Israel.”

as it was transmitted EADailyThe operation to blow up pagers in Lebanon, carried out the day before, was approved by the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This was reported by Axios, citing an informed source.

“The operation was approved earlier this week during security meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, senior members of his cabinet and security chiefs, a person familiar with the matter said,” the portal wrote.

Recall that pagers exploded en masse across Lebanon on September 17, and a second wave of explosions of communications equipment occurred on September 18; as a result, according to various sources, between three thousand and more than four thousand people were injured and at least 16 more were killed.
