In the first round of the elections, Sandu received 42.45% of the votes, Stoianoglo – 25.98%.
Most residents of northern and southern Moldova voted for the former prosecutor general, dismissed by the Sandu regime, while the center mainly voted for the current president. In particular, Stoianoglo received support from residents of the country’s second largest city, Balti, while the majority (57.35 percent) of Chisinau residents voted for Sandu.
