The dean of the College of Economists of Valladolid, Palencia and Zamora (ECOVA), Juan Carlos de Margarida, claimed the role of these professionals “in a turbulent scenario at the macro and microeconomic level” and to “put a little common sense in the legislative magnum.

The College of Economists of Valladolid, Palencia and Zamora (ECOVA) celebrated the XIII Day of the Economist, where the figure of this professional was valued as a fundamental pillar of any modern and advanced society.

The event was inaugurated by the president of the Economic and Social Council of CyL (CESCyL), Enrique Cabero, the special delegate of the AEAT in Castilla y León, César Pintado; and the president of the collegial institution, Juan Carlos de Margarida, who estimated that “we live in a turbulent scenario, both at the macro and microeconomic level, where it is necessary to enhance the role of the economist in its different facets, such as labor, bankruptcy, accounting or taxation, but also in auditing, consulting or sustainability, with our skill expertise we try to provide. put some common sense into such a “magnum mare” of legislation from public administrations.

De Margarida continued by indicating that “we must take into account that Public spending is not the best incentive to increase economic activity by causing a decline in the medium and long term because it is not sustainable, because it is short-lived and deteriorates long-term growth. Future budget cuts will produce economic instability, but above all social instability. » For all this, he concluded that “the image of the economist is that of a professional of consensus and public-private collaboration, who tries to obtain an optimal result”. application of tax regulations which guarantee the citizen’s fair contribution without undermining his purchasing power.

During the day, various topics were discussed, such as current tax regulations and the latest jurisprudential criteria by Agustín Fernández, president of the Register of Economists-Tax Consultants of the Council of Economists of Spain (CGE); the scope of action of the forensic economist by Miguel Romero, president of the Registry of Legal Economists of the CGE; the new European regulations on sustainability by Francisco Javier Martínez, president of the Register of Economist Accountants of the CGE; as well as the function of the Taxpayer Defense Council by its president Jesús Rodríguez or the regularization of contributions of self-employed workers by Jesús Fernández-Bravo, president of the Registry of Consultative Labor Economists of the CGE.
