The Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Elma Saiz, assured that “no decision has been made” concerning the opening of an emergency, reception and reference center for migrants in the Ciudad Real Airport.
The head of Migration explained, in an interview with TVE collected by Europa Press, that her ministry “permanently carries out surveys and analyzes throughout the national territory”, without specifying further on the possible location at the airport of Ciudad Real. The minister continued on this path, specifying to LaSexta that “the ministry is constantly carrying out prospecting work. It is only at the time of analysis and validation that the series of contacts begin.” So, he added that “These are not decisions that are made overnight.”
However, he insisted that it is “an absolutely initial phase” and clarified that places housing this type of installations must have “very specific habitability conditions, with electrical services and legal and technical requirements”.
“These are decisions that are not taken overnight because of the eligibility conditions that we are talking about,” maintained the minister, who added that “they are analyzed exhaustively and only when the conditions are met “. maximum conditions decisions are taken”, underlined the minister.
He also considered it important to specify that the Emergency, Reception and Reference Centers for migrants are short-stay structures with open regimes “where people can leave and where humanitarian care is given, always respecting human rights and the vulnerabilities of family networks and the specific needs of people are analyzed in order to then be able to transfer them.
